Description

Lifted aromas of apricot, ripe peach and honeysuckle fill the glass.

The entry is soft and mouth filling offering white fruit and orange citrus flavours. It is fresh and medium-weighted; fragrant with a touch of minerality. The lingering finish is supported by gentle acidity.

Winemaking notes

The fruit for this wine was sourced entirely from Viognier grapes grown in our organic certified Livingston Road vineyard in Brightwater. The 2014 vintage was the first time that these vines have produced sufficient fruit to make a viable quantity of wine – in previous years we have co-fermented the small amount of Viogner grapes harvested with our Syrah, in the Rhone tradition.
This Viogner was hand harvested on 1 May 2014 with a Brix level of 22.6º.
The grapes were whole bunch pressed and the juice was barrel fermented in seasoned oak. After the ferment was completed the wine was aged on gross lees for twelve months.
