2008 Brightside Nelson Pinot Gris

Winemaking notes

The fruit for this wine was sourced from a single vineyard site located on the Waimea Plains. It is 100% hand-picked Pinot gris, with an average harvest Brix of 23.4ª.

The grapes were crushed and destemmed, juice oxidation carefully avoided and the clear juice cool fermented in stainless steel to retain primary fruit character. The ferment was stopped retaining around 8g residual sugar to give an off dry style.

Aged on lees for 3 months following fermentation, to enhance the texture and weight. There was no malolactic fermentation or oak influence.

Wine analysis

Tasting notes

Delicately scented Pinot Gris with a lush juicy palate, and flavours of fresh pear and apricot. It‚s made in an off-dry style with a smooth creamy texture, nicely balanced against a minerally complexity. Lees ageing has added weight as well as a biscuity infusion to the flavour. After the fresh juicy pear laden palate, there‚s a hint of exotic spice/anise on the warm mouthfilling finish.
