2007 Kaimira Estate Brightwater Semillon

Winemaking notes

The fruit for this wine was sourced entirely from the estate vineyard at Livingston Road in Brightwater, from 10 year old vines. It was 100% hand picked fruit, nice and clean thanks to the warm dry autumn in 2007.

Crushed and destemmed before gentle pressing, the juice was settled and the clears racked to be fermented in stainless steel. After ferment the wine was split, half to sit on light lees for 5 months, and the other half to be matured with European oak beans and go through partial MLF. The portions were then blended prior to bottling in November 2007.

Tasting notes

The nose shows aromas of citrus and summer hay, and some spicy oak. This is a textural wine, the lees having contributed some mid-palate weight, with flavours reminiscent of lemon honey and rockmelon with pithy grapefruit and a hint of floral, seasoned with some smokey oak.
