2006 Kaimira Estate Unoaked ChardonnayWinemaking notes The fruit for this wine was sourced entirely from a vineyard in the Moutere Hills. This is exactly the same parcel of fruit as previous vintages and a consistency of style has been developed. It was 100% hand picked with an average harvest Brix of 23.8. Crushing and pressing was reductive, avoiding juice oxidation, and the partially clarified juice cool fermented in stainless steel to retain primary fruit characters. This wine is made in a style with very little winemaking influence to allow the pure varietal characters of ripe Chardonnay grapes to be displayed. Some post fermentation lees contact and stirring was allowed to give additional weight to the wine, but there was neither oak contact nor malolactic fermentation. Wine analysis Residual sugar 2.5gL Titratable acidity 7.6g/L Alcohol 14.6% Tasting notes Intense nectarine and tangelo citrus rind on the nose. There is good creaminess on the palate and plenty of bright fresh fruit flavours all of which will soften and integrate with time. |
