2006 Kaimira Estate Nelson RieslingWINE DETAILSThe fruit for this wine was sourced from two vineyards on the Waimea plains (41% Golden Hills and 59% River Terrace). It is 100% hand-picked Riesling, with an average harvest Brix of 20.5°. The grapes were pressed, juice oxidation carefully avoided and the clarified juice cool fermented in stainless steel to retain primary fruit character. The fermentation was stopped to retain a level of residual sugar that balanced the natural acidity. Post-fermentation lees influence was minimal to preserve fruitiness and there was no oak contact or malolactic fermentation.
TASTING NOTESThis is a fresh and fruity wine with aromas of honeysuckle, tree-ripened apples and limes with a dash of minerality and cinnamon spice. Luscious fruit sweetness and flavours of apple and pear give way to a clean dry aftertaste. The aromas will intensify in the short term and for toasty honeyed characters to develop with time.
