2006 Kaimira Estate Brightwater Pinot Gris
WINE DETAILS
The fruit for this wine was sourced from the two home vineyards in Brightwater (72% River Terrace and 28% Livingston Road). It is 100% hand-picked Pinot Gris, with an average harvest Brix of 23°.
The grapes were crushed and destemmed with a short period of skin contact. Juice oxidation was carefully avoided and the clear juice cool fermented in stainless steel to retain primary fruit character.
The wine was aged on lees with stirring for around two months following fermentation, again to enhance the texture and weight. There was no malolactic fermentation or oak influence.
TASTING NOTES
Nose shows biscuity lemon pie and baked pear characters. Made in a dry style it has an unctuous oily texture and warm spiced home baking flavours, which combined with fresh apple and citrussy acid make for an appealing and food friendly wine.
