2008 Kaimira Estate Brightwater Riesling2008 Kaimira Estate Brightwater Riesling Winemaking notes The fruit for this wine was sourced entirely from the two estate vineyards in Brightwater (55% River Terrace, 45% Livingston Rd). It is 100% Riesling, with an average harvest Brix of 22ª. The grapes were pressed, juice oxidation carefully avoided and the clarified juice cool fermented in stainless steel to retain primary fruit character. After ferment the wine was racked off the heavy lees and blended. It was then allowed to mature on light lees for several months to add weight and complexity to the mid-palate while preserving the fruit characters; there was no oak contact or malolactic fermentation. Wine analysis Residual sugar 6.5 g/l Titratable acidity 7.6 g/l pH 3.08 Alcohol 13 % Tasting notes This Brightwater Riesling has an open and lively nose with limes, mandarin, liquorice and a hint of talc. The palate is clean and crisp, with juicy grapefruit flavours and a barely there bush honey sweetness to the front palate. The riverstone minerality typical of our Brightwater fruit gives the wine a firm backbone and will ensure longevity. Finishes dry with a dash of ginger spice. Expect this wine to mature gracefully and in 3 to 4 years to develop toasty and honeyed characters |
